WSA Winnipeg Strikes for First Win!

3 - 0 Win versus Kansas City Brass

June 11, 2013

After a long trip to Kansas City, WSA Winnipeg had one thing in mind Tuesday night, which was to earn their first win of the season.

Temperatures of 32 degrees Celsius didn't stop WSA from coming out strong and creating some early chances. A few chances from Nathan Douglas, Balex Kabamba and Ali Musse, could have had WSA up 1-0 but Kansas City's goalie was sharp when he was needed.

But it was only a matter of time after having majority possession and penetrating attacks that Nathan Douglas was sent in on a breakaway and made no mistake putting it top corner in the 31st minute.

Shortly after the first goal, Ali Musse had a chance and he was robbed himself in the 33rd minute.

In the 36th minute some tempers flared which saw a Kansas City player sent off and they were forced to play with 10 men for the remainder of the game. With WSA already maintaining the most possession, this was only going to get worse for Kansas City.

The score line stayed 1-0 at half, but WSA came out flying to start the second half and created chance after chance And in the 49th minute, Ali Musse found Moses Danto who buried his 3rd goal of the season to give WSA a 2-0 lead.

Tyson Farago was amazing in net for WSA, and a great team performance held Kansas City off the score sheet and in the 80th minute, Hamza Mustapha found Ali Musse to finish off the game at 3-0 WSA.

That is WSA's first win of the 2013 season, they improve to 1-4 and head to Springfield to play the Demize on Thursday & Friday night. Looking to go 3-4 on the year.

Nathan Douglas was the man of the match for WSA, but an overall great team performance, and a well executed game plan from Coach Eduardo Badescu.
